Freelance ART DIRECTOR
a Dutch magazine focusing on the history and impact of World War II in the Dutch East Indies, the Moluccas, and post-colonial relations
Brief
"The magazine needed help from someone who could build an entire magazine from scratch. Their previous art director hadn't left the files in order, and they were facing a very tight deadline with more than 100 pages to complete. I worked alongside two copywriters, an assistant, and the chief editor."
I was responsible for designing this magazine layout from scratch. Although previous editions existed, the original master pages had been lost. I rebuilt the entire document structure in Adobe InDesign, creating templates for the cover, colophon, editorial articles, and advertisements. Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with the chief editor, his assistant and copywriters to ensure a seamless production.
Solution

WORKING WITH A PLANK
THESE ARE LAYOUTS OF EVERY PAGE THAT HAS TO BE CREATED

THESE PAGES ARE HELPFUL SO THE ART DIRECTOR, DESIGNERS AND COPYWRITERS CAN ESTIMATE HOW PAGES LOOK LIKE AND WHAT STILL HAS TO BE DONE

USUALLY A MAGAZINE THE FIRST PAGES, STARTS WITH
A COLOPHON, SOME MAGS DO THESE AT THE END.
